Nash to New York Would Leave Knicks & Raptor Fans Upset

Money Mitch is here, blogging, handing out my opinion for my hot topic of the day.

Firstly, Brian Colangelo is praying right now because if he can’t deliver Steve Nash after the huge proposal we gave him to represent the country, that’ll leave Raptor fans disgruntled with not only Nash, but Colangelo who has come up short in a signing that everyone thought was a forsure one. We’re talking about BC, a guy who has signed Nash previously, is tight with the management in Phoenix, and had the greenlight to offer Steve an offer that was not only the most lucrative, yet it even gave Nash a layout of what he could do to start his career in the front office for Canada’s only NBA team. If you think Steve will still get the warm welcome he should in his New York uniform playing the first of four games against the Raptors, you’re definitly mistaken, because turning down a chance to represent your country not once, but also retiring early from summer play for team Canada may really catch up to him down the line.

What also has Knicks fans stirred up is the fact that they don’t want to give up Iman Shumpert. Iman was arguably the Knicks best defender next to Tyson Chandler last year and will be sorely missed when having Nash, Melo, and Amare being piggybacked by Tyson on the defensive end. Fans are angry as some have some really harsh things to say about Knicks management in ESPN forums:

“If they trade Shumpert for Nash I’m officially boycotting the garden until somebody else buys this franchise and replace this clown of a owner. This brilliant move has Isiah Thomas written all over it.”

That was the top comment, and this was the second.

Shumpert can play D and can shoot the 3… for an aging Steve Nash, what are the Knicks management smokin..?

So I don’t nesissarily agree that Shump can hit the 3 (not consistantly at least) but it’s easy to see where the fans are coming from. They’re being forced to accept a 38 year old point guard, and give away not only Shumpert but also are forced to let Fields walk. It’s a gloomy day for fans of New York and Toronto today as NY may get what TO craves.
